Our Investment Bank client is looking for a high calibre to join their global system server team as Server Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support for all server infrastructure technologies, ensuring continuous service availability 24/7.
- Follow best practices for managing systems and services across various environments.
- Collaborate with colleagues across different time zones to deliver seamless global server support.
- Oversee the management, coordination, and implementation of software upgrades, patches, and hotfixes on servers.
- Develop and modify scripts or applications to automate tasks.
- Offer suggestions for enhancing stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the server environment.
- Work closely with the team to create and implement automation strategies and streamlined deployment processes.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning exercises as necessary.
- Manage physical server infrastructure through remote access.
- Oversee and maintain virtual machines in both internal ESX farms and cloud environments.
- Construct new physical and virtual servers according to company standards.
- Collaborate with teams in Application Development, Application Support, Innovation, Build and Release, and Project Management.
- Provide support during scheduled weekend changes as required.
- Serve on-call during off-hours when needed.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Approximately 3 years of relevant experience in VMware and Windows System Administration.
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems, including Red Hat and Microsoft, in both physical and virtual environments. ie. HPE Server Hardware
- Hands-on experience with physical and virtual server deployment and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS.
- Knowledge in AWS or other cloud technology is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
