Job Summary:
IT Post Trade Systems is responsible for the design, implementation and support of HKEX systems for the clearing and settlement of cash equities and derivative products, nominee and depository functions, and collateral and risk management platforms. The department is looking for an experienced IT professional in system development.

Job Duties:

As a System Development Manager in Post Trade Systems IT, the incumbent would work on the delivery of a new system jointly with a partner, to be used by HKEX, the partner, and their common members. Through this new system, we can streamline workflows electronically with the partner and support more use cases for our clearing participants. The successful candidate can gain working knowledge of some critical market infrastructure provided by HKEX and the partner and rewarding experience of leading a small group of developers in a green field project.

Responsibilities:
  • System Architecture: Propose a technical architecture for the new system based on existing standard technology stacks and adapted to the business requirements.
  • Technical Design: Prepare specifications for the user interface, web services, database schema, integration interfaces, deployment architecture, etc.
  • Development: Lead the implementation of the system and develop high quality code.
  • Team Leading: Supervise 1-2 junior developers and coach them for their work. Conduct code reviews and organize scrums.
  • Business Requirements: Partner with internal user groups to gather requirements for development. Ensure the technical solutions align with business needs. Communicate risks and gaps in functional specifications if necessary.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Review the test plans to confirm that the system complies with the technical requirements on reliability, performance, contingency, security, etc. Lead the development of unit tests and preparation of test environments. Support business users during UAT and regression tests.
  • Documentation: Create detailed documents such as technical specification and deployment procedures for internal records. Work with the business users on user manuals.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS or a related discipline.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in software engineering, including at least 5 years of experience in the financial industry
  • Technical Skills
    • Solid, hands-on experience with Java development and Spring framework
    • Working knowledge of web development using React JS or a similar HTML5 framework
    • Proficiency in SQL and RDBMS
    • Experience with SSO Identity Providers (SAML and OAuth2) or cloud technology (e.g. Kubernetes) is a bonus
  • Analytical Thinking: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex technical requirements, identify potential challenges, and devise solutions flexibly.
  • Business Knowledge: A good understanding of cash equities, exchange traded products or listed derivatives is a bonus.
