Head of Business Development, Asia (L&H Actuary) - HK or SG based Our client is a global reinsurance company with well-established business in Asia. They are seeking an experienced business development actuary to grow their life reinsurance business in the Asia-Pacific region. You will lead the growth and performance of the business while managing client relationships, lead strategic initiatives, identify growth opportunities, and ensure the profitability of your portfolio. Our client is a global reinsurance company with well-established business in Asia. They are seeking an experienced business development actuary to grow their life reinsurance business in the Asia-Pacific region. You will lead the growth and performance of the business while managing client relationships, lead strategic initiatives, identify growth opportunities, and ensure the profitability of your portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute market strategies for South Asia in alignment with companys global Life & Health strategy.
  • Own the business performance for the region, delivering sustainable revenue and profitability growth.
  • Acted as a trusted advisor, able to cultivate and deepen senior-level client relationships across all functions
  • Oversee the development and negotiation of new business and in-force reinsurance solutions tailored to client and company needs.
  • Manage portfolio risk and experience proactively to ensure long-term sustainability and profitability.
  • Drive marketing and communications initiatives to brand profile in your markets, in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications team.
  • Being company representative at client events, industry forums, and conferences, showcasing our expertise and leadership.
  • Ensure full adherence to internal risk, governance, and reporting standards across business development activities.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Actuary or relevant education background with business development, sales and client management experience
  • At least 15 years in life re-insurance or consulting firms, with strong client relationship skills
  • Deep knowledge of Asia insurance reinsurance markets including the regulatory environment
  • Expertise in structuring, pricing, and negotiating reinsurance transactions with both technical rigour and commercial acumen.
  • Fluent in English and Cantonese (Mandarin a plus)
  • Commercially minded, strategic, and collaborative
  • Candidate with less experiences would be considered as client partner
