About the Role:
We are working with a leading global private bank seeking an experienced onboarding leader to head up its Private Banking onboarding team. This critical first line of defense function ensures robust client onboarding and due diligence standards while supporting relationship managers and the wider business.
The role will oversee a team of reviewers in Hong Kong, covering the full spectrum of onboarding processes including KYC, source of wealth corroboration, and ongoing relationship with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Private Banking onboarding team, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to ensure high performance and quality output.
- Oversee end-to-end client onboarding processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, with a strong focus on source of wealth and funds corroboration.
- Act as the main point of contact for front office stakeholders, providing clear guidance and partnership to Relationship Managers.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across Audit, BRM, Compliance, and other functions.
- Drive process improvements and best practices across the onboarding function.
- Represent the onboarding team in governance forums and ensure timely resolution of escalated matters.
- Manage team resources, performance reviews, and professional development.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience managing a sizeable onboarding/KYC team within Private Banking or Wealth Management.
- Strong technical knowledge of onboarding, due diligence, and source of wealth corroboration processes for HNW and UHNW clients.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills; able to engage confidently with senior Relationship Managers and key functions (e.g., Audit, BRM, Compliance).
- Effective communicator with the presence to operate as the general manager for the unit.
- Professional fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin is essential to support the regional client base.
