Your New Company

Our client is a leading scientific research organisation in Hong Kong who is seeking a System Analyst (Data Integration) to join their team and play a vital role in ensuring seamless integration of their data lakehouse platform with internal systems and external partners. This is a great opportunity to drive innovation and impact the future of genomics and healthcare integration!

Your New Role

  • Design, develop, and maintain APIs and data transfer mechanisms (e.g., RESTful APIs, AWS S3 Upload) to enable secure and efficient data exchange.
  • Implement strategies for data replication, failover, and disaster recovery, using clustering technologies (e.g., Kubernetes) and load balancing for high availability.
  • Establish robust data security policies, including encryption (data at rest and in transit), access controls, and audit logging, to safeguard sensitive genomic and clinical data.
  • Optimize system performance by identifying bottlenecks and enhancing data throughput and response times.
  • Develop and monitor data validation processes, lineage tracking, and quality control to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with bioinformaticians, software engineers, and stakeholders to design integration solutions for genomics and clinical data (e.g., FASTQ, BAM, VCF, FHIR, HL7).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior officers.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data integration patterns, API development, and data security.
  • Extensive experience with data transfer protocols (e.g., SFTP, HTTPS, AWS S3) and RESTful APIs.
  • Proficiency in data storage and management systems, including data modeling, database design (SQL and NoSQL), and data warehousing.
  • Familiarity with clustering technologies (e.g., Kubernetes) and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7) is an advantage.
  • Understanding of genomics data formats (e.g., FASTQ, BAM, VCF) and standards (e.g., CRAM) is a plus but not mandatory.
