A family office is looking to hire a senior investment manager/ CIO to lead thedevelopment and execution of the family's investment strategy, ensuring the preservation and prudent growth of wealth while aligning investments with the family's unique goals, risk tolerance, values, and legacy objectives. Proficiency in Chinese including reading and writting is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Investment Strategy & Leadership:
* Develop, articulate, implement, and continuously refine the family's overarching, long-term Investment Policy Statement and Strategic Asset Allocation.
* Lead the investment team and present strategic recommendations, portfolio performance, and market outlooks to the Family Principals.
* Define and manage the investment philosophy, risk appetite, and return objectives specific to the family's needs and aspirations.
2. Portfolio Management & Oversight:
* Construct, manage, and rebalance the global investment portfolio.
* Conduct rigorous due diligence on new investment opportunities across all asset classes.
* Select, appoint, monitor, and evaluate external investment managers/ private banks, advisors, and service providers.
* Oversee risk management frameworks, including liquidity management, currency risk, concentration risk, and counterparty risk.
3. Performance & Reporting:
* Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) beyond just returns (e.g., risk-adjusted returns, alignment with values, liquidity metrics).
* Provide clear, concise, and insightful performance reports to the family, explaining results in the context of strategy, market conditions, and benchmarks.
* Oversee robust investment accounting, performance measurement, and reporting systems.
4. Team & Resource Management:
* Build, lead, mentor, and manage the investment team.
* Manage the investment operations budget and resources effectively.
* Stay abreast of global economic trends, market developments, and emerging investment opportunities/threats.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience: Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in investment management, asset allocation, and portfolio construction.
* Essential: Significant experience (5+ years) in a senior investment role (e.g., CIO, Senior Portfolio Manager, Head of Investments) within a single-family office, multi-family office, or ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) private wealth management division of a major institution. Deep understanding of the unique dynamics of serving UHNW families is critical.
* Proven track record of successfully managing complex, multi-asset class, global portfolios at scale ($500M+ AUM minimum, ideally $1B+).
* Extensive experience sourcing, evaluating, selecting, and monitoring external managers (traditional and alternative).
