Our client, a well-established hedge fund, is looking to hire an Executive Director, Operational Risk & Trading Controls to join the APAC team and provide regional coverage. This is a senior individual contributor role, responsible for enhancing the firm's risk management practices and mitigating risk.
Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate trading platforms and processes to pinpoint control deficiencies, propose suitable improvements, and automate routine tasks where feasible.
- Collaborate with trading leaders and operations executives to set control benchmarks and devise ways to assess control performance, such as through monitoring systems.
- Partner with operations teams to periodically examine and fine-tune pre- and post-trade safeguards for optimal functionality.
- Create and roll out robust indicators for tracking key risks, along with producing routine reports for senior management on critical metrics and emerging risk patterns.
- Aid global operational risk colleagues in ongoing tasks like resiliency testing, business continuity planning, risk assessments, and targeted control validations, while ensuring compliance with local regulations through framework oversight.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 10 years in a 1st or 2nd line of defense role focused on business or trading controls, or risk management.
- In-depth familiarity with financial markets, including a thorough grasp of equity and/or commodities market frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in leading process improvements across trading, tech, and regulatory compliance teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Solid comprehension of the full trading lifecycle, including related operational and resilience challenges
- Holder of a Bachelor's or higher degree in STEM or finance
