Overview
BBVA is seeking a dynamic and strategic professional to lead its Korean business with strong focus on Client Coverage activities for South Korean corporate clients within the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division in Asia. Based in Hong Kong, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding BBVAs relationships with major South Korean clients operating globally, driving business development across a full suite of investment banking, capital markets, and financing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Lead and oversee client coverage for South Korean corporate clients across multiple sectors.
- Support client relationships in Public Sector and Financial Institutions segments.
- Develop long-term, strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders at client organizations.
- Collaborate with global and regional coverage teams to deliver consistent and coordinated client service.
Business Development & Strategy
- Drive revenue growth by originating new business opportunities with Korean clients in Asia and globally.
- Develop and execute tailored coverage strategies and compelling pitches leveraging Industry (market trends, competitive positioning,...) expertise and BBVA global capabilities, to deliver innovative and value-added solutions.
- Analyze clients financial situation, drivers and underlying dynamics and present it to the risk department in a clear and comprehensive manner.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of relationship managers or coverage officers (as applicable).
- Foster a collaborative culture with cross-functional teams across geographies.
- Promote BBVAs corporate values, risk culture, and commitment to sustainability in all client interactions.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to internal policies, regulatory standards, and KYC/AML requirements.
- Maintain robust oversight of credit exposure, client profitability, and deal execution.
- Actively participate in risk committees and coverage planning forums.
Key Requirements
Professional Experience
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in corporate or investment banking, with a strong track record in client coverage and relevant client/contacts network.
- Deep understanding of the Korean corporate landscape and business culture.
- Proven ability to originate and execute complex financial transactions across products.
- Experience working in a regional or global banking platform; familiarity with Asian financial markets and regulatory environments is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Native or fluent Korean language skills; fluency in English is essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
