Your new role - Guide and mentor a team of developers in designing and implementing robust applications using Java, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Lead code reviews, establish architectural guidelines, and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Design and implement solutions on Microsoft Azure, utilising services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, and related cloud tools for efficient data ingestion, processing, and retrieval.
- Develop strategies for Data Lake management, ensuring data quality, security, and scalability.
- Architect, develop, and deploy Java-based applications using frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
- Ensure integration between on-premises and cloud environments, leveraging RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable technical solutions.
- Manage project timelines, communicate status, and escalate issues as needed by senior management.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies and industry trends to enhance system performance and developer productivity.
- Promote best practices in cloud security, data governance, and agile software development processes.
- Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimisation of cloud environments, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to proactively identify and address performance issues.
What you'll need to succeed - Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive professional experience in software development, with substantial experience in Java, cloud architecture (specifically Microsoft Azure), and data lake solutions.
- Strong expertise in Java programming, including practical experience with frameworks like Spring and Hibernate.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage, and other related tools.
- Familiarity with big data tools and concepts such as data ingestion, processing, and analytics, as well as data governance and security in cloud environments.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing technical teams and driving projects in agile or hybrid environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming technical challenges and optimising processes.
