Our client, a leading and highly respected organization in Hong Kong, is seeking a seasoned environmental sustainability professional. In this senior leadership role, you will be the central expert responsible for developing and implementing the company-wide environmental strategy. You will drive governance, ensure regulatory compliance, and integrate sustainability into core business operations to achieve long-term organizational goals and identify new opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Governance: Design, lead, and embed the corporate environmental strategy and governance framework across all divisions in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
- Targets & Reporting: Establish and monitor key environmental performance indicators (KPIs) for areas including climate change, waste, water, and biodiversity. Oversee all internal and external sustainability reporting aligned with global standards (e.g., GRI, IFRS, TNFD).
- Compliance & Expertise: Serve as the primary in-house authority on environmental regulations for Hong Kong and Mainland China, mitigating risk and ensuring full compliance.
- Data Integrity: Manage the collection and validation of all environmental data, ensuring accuracy and robustness for strategic decision-making.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with senior leadership, the Board, and internal teams to build a culture of sustainability. Represent the company externally on environmental matters.
- Trend Analysis & Innovation: Monitor emerging environmental trends to identify potential risks and opportunities, contributing to enterprise risk management and the development of sustainable business solutions.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering professional growth and building a strong succession pipeline.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced qualifications are a plus.
- A minimum of 18-20 years of progressive experience developing and implementing environmental/sustainability programs within a large, complex organization.
- Deep technical knowledge of environmental strategies, legislation, and statutory requirements in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
- Experienced in engaging with C-suite executives and board members on material sustainability issues.
- Strong established network with environmental organizations and consultancy services in Greater China.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, managing technical consultants, and building high-performance teams.
- Exceptional analytical, planning, and communication skills.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and preferrably Mandarin.
