About the Role We are seeking a hands-on Data Governance Officer to join a global professional services organisation building a new data governance function from the ground up. You will work closely with a small, collaborative APAC team and the broader global team across Europe and the US to enhance data quality, standardisation, and compliance across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities - Implement and maintain the organisations data governance framework, ensuring data quality and consistency across datasets.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage documentation to track data flows and maintain consistent terminology.
- Conduct data quality assessments, identify issues, and coordinate remediation plans.
- Build and maintain dashboards and KPIs to monitor compliance with governance standards.
- Leverage Microsoft Purview (or similar tools like Collibra) to catalogue data assets and enforce governance policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
- Support the end-to-end data lifecycle, identifying dependencies to improve delivery, change management, and operational efficiency.
- Produce regular reports for management summarising governance activities and outcomes.
Experience & Skills Required - Foundational knowledge of data governance principles, including data quality, data lineage, roles/responsibilities, and documentation.
- Experience designing and maintaining dashboards or metrics for governance compliance.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or other data governance tools.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams, gather requirements, and implement practical solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with experience identifying, escalating, and resolving data quality issues.
- Familiarity with automation tools or processes to improve data management efficiency.
- Awareness of data protection regulations and the ability to apply them practically.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate documentation.
- Adaptable, willing to learn new tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in a professional services or legal environment is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; Traditional and Simplified Chinese is a must.
