Service Line Overview

Audit Quality and Professional Practice (AQPP) collaborates with our colleagues in the Audit Practice to strengthen audit quality, automation and the use of data. We transform our audits through upskilling our people and the creation and deployment of insightful data and analytics and efficient audit enablers that standardize, simplify, centralize and automate our audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop standardised data and analytics routines to be performed by colleagues in our delivery centres to centralise and automate common audit procedures.
  • Collaborate with audit teams to design bespoke data and analytics routines for our largest audit client engagements. This includes analysing available data tables from the client, identifying and verifying relationships between them, and mapping out how they can be joined. Propose data and analytics routines that identify outliers that address the risks of material misstatement of accounts. Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for further investigation.
  • Evaluate and select the most suitable software tools (e.g., Alteryx, Power BI, Databricks, Fabrics, Azure) for performing data analytics or data science solutions.
  • Build visualization dashboards to investigate / present results from the audit data analyses.
  • Explain the processes and outcomes of software tools or data analytics routines to audit teams. Assist teams with required documentation to evidence the results of the data analytics routines and support the integrity checks on the data.
  • Utilize AI techniques and machine learning algorithms to enhance data analysis, automate routine tasks, and improve the accuracy of audit findings where applicable.
  • Perform data cleansing and preprocessing tasks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of audit data.
  • Promote the use of data and analytics and other software audit tech solutions to our auditors by demonstrating and raising awareness of functionality and benefits of using the tools.
  • Actively learn about the latest data analytics, data science tools, AI tools and techniques.
Experience & Background
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting and Business Analytics or Information Technology-related disciplines such as Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.
  • 1-3 years' experience relating to Data & Analytics or Data science with experience in visualization.
  • 1-3 years' experience relating to Python (R programming is a plus).
  • Proficient in and working experience with at least one visualization tool (e.g.,Tableau, Power BI).
  • Data analytics experience with Alteryx, VBA, SQL and literacy with Large Language Model is preferred.
  • Strong understanding in BI/data warehouse concepts, with a comprehensive understanding of how to collect, store, manage, and analyze data to support business intelligence initiatives.
  • Team player and ability to work well in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge in process mining to enhance audit processes, identify inefficiencies, and ensure compliance is a plus.
  • Experience working in a consulting environment is preferred.
  • Prior industry experience in accounting, audit, retail, healthcare, logistics or TMT industry is preferred and job will provide opportunities to develop business / accounting skills in addition to data and analytics skills
  • Strong analytical mindset with solid problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data, identify core issues and investigate, evaluate and reach appropriate conclusions / solutions.
  • Be curious with data, open-minded to new business technologies, able to explain complex data concepts to people from a non-technical background.
  • Good English language skills to facilitate leveraging of materials and routines form other KPMG member firms and participate in global meetings.
