Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a
Senior Product Risk Actuary. Principal Responsibilities HSBC's Insurance business operates globally with insurance manufacturing operations across Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America, with the greatest focus of business growth and product range expansion in Asia. Products manufactured and sold by HSBC's insurance businesses include with profits, universal life, unit-linked, protection, annuities, health and employee benefits. HSBC also distributes third party products in markets where they do not manufacture, and for general insurance products globally.
This is a Second Life of Defence role that supports the Global Insurance CRCO team as a global risk steward to coordinate the product approval process and provide risk oversight. In particular, the role is expected to cover the following:
- Support development and maintenance of HSBC's insurance product risk policies and procedures.
- Support development and maintenance of HSBC's product governance processes, systems and templates.
- Work across functions, including actuarial, finance, underwriting, compliance and risk to manage product risk.
- Coordinate with Global Insurance Product Team and Global Insurance Risk and Compliance Team on product approval and governance, to ensure products deliver good outcomes for shareholders and customers.
- Conduct quality assurance review with support from wider Global Insurance Risk team to ensure products approved locally and by Global Insurance First Line of Defence meet HSBC standards.
- Support deep dives and thematic reviews on specific product issues.
- Support project-based activities within the Global Risk function that may arise from time to time.
Qualifications - Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the Society of Actuaries or equivalent body.
- Possess strong technical knowledge on product and actuarial pricing. Candidates with experience in both life and non-life insurance products will be preferred.
- Good commercial and business acumen and understanding of market contexts.
- Knowledge of industry good practice and emerging regulations in the actuarial field.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal to support actuarial, risk, product and business colleagues to comprehend complex issues.
- Strong leadership and demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams.
- Good understanding of HSBC's overall business dynamics and culture
