Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and commercially focused Legal Counsel to join our growing legal team within a fast-paced e-commerce environment. The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of post-qualification experience and a strong background in commercial law, with the ability to support a wide range of business functions including digital operations, marketing, procurement, and technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including vendor contracts, service agreements, marketing and advertising arrangements, technology licenses, and data processing agreements.
- Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and compliance matters related to e-commerce operations, including consumer protection, advertising standards, and digital marketing.
- Support product launches, platform enhancements, and cross-border initiatives from a legal and regulatory perspective.
- Provide legal input on privacy, data protection (e.g., GDPR, PDPO), and cybersecurity matters.
- Assist with corporate governance, regulatory filings, and internal policy development.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the e-commerce sector and provide timely guidance.
- Collaborate with external counsel as needed and manage legal budgets effectively.
- Deliver training and guidance to business teams on legal and compliance topics.
Requirements
- Qualified solicitor with 3-8 years PQE, gained in private practice or in-house (preferably in e-commerce, retail, or technology sectors).
- Strong experience in commercial contract negotiation and legal advisory work.
- Familiarity with consumer law, data privacy, digital marketing regulations, and IP matters.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Commercially minded with a pragmatic approach to legal risk.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin is a must
