Overview: A leading Chinese bank is seeking an experienced and strategic
Head of Corporate and FI Credit to oversee credit approval and risk management for corporate and financial institution clients across Hong Kong and Greater China. This is a senior leadership role responsible for maintaining credit quality, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting business growth through sound credit decisions.
Key Responsibilities: - Lead the credit approval function for corporate and financial institution (FI) clients, including large corporates, SOEs, conglomerates, and NBFIs.
- Review and approve credit proposals, ensuring alignment with internal risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and market best practices.
- Provide expert judgment on complex credit structures, syndicated loans, bilateral facilities, and cross-border transactions.
- Collaborate with relationship managers, risk teams, and senior management to support business origination while safeguarding credit quality.
- Monitor portfolio performance and emerging risks, initiating remedial actions where necessary.
- Represent the credit function in internal committees and external regulatory engagements.
- Drive continuous improvement in credit processes, policies, and systems.
Requirements: - Minimum 15 years of experience in corporate credit risk, credit approval, or credit underwriting, ideally within Chinese or international banks.
- Strong understanding of corporate and FI credit across sectors, including infrastructure, real estate, energy, and financial services.
- Familiarity with PRC and Hong Kong regulatory frameworks and banking practices.
- Proven leadership in managing credit teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English; Cantonese is a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
