Linux Engineer - Hong Kong - relocation support and visa sponsorship available
Join a leading global trading firm where Linux sits at the heart of production trading systems. Youll work on the critical infrastructure that powers low-latency, high-reliability workloads, partnering closely with Trading, Technology, and Operations.
What youll do
- Own and improve the Linux platform that underpins production trading systems.
- Debug tricky systems issues end-to-end (including kernel performance) and resolve live production incidents with clear root-cause analyses and durable fixes.
- Build tooling for deployment automation, scalable configuration management, and comprehensive monitoring - automating wherever it reduces error rate and operational load.
- Develop and maintain management tools; dive into Unix/Linux internals when performance or reliability demands it.
- Collaborate across teams to roll out firm-wide changes safely and repeatably.
What you bring
- Experience in electronic trading, hedge funds, proprietary trading/market making, exchanges, or similarly time-critical, high-throughput, high-frequency/low-latency environments.
- Deep knowledge of operating system fundamentals, plus fluency with the Unix command line and shell scripting.
- Practical experience with modern Linux systems and systems programming concepts: C, sockets, virtual memory, and the process lifecycle.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with profiling/debugging tools such as gdb, perf, DTrace, eBPF, or SystemTap.
- Solid understanding of network fundamentals and common protocols.
- Programming experience in any language (functional languages are a plus).
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
