Vice President -Global FIG Department

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

An international bank is seeking an experienced Relationship Manager to drive the growth of the bank's investor and sales & trading (S&T) business in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Financial Institutions Group (FIG) and demonstrated marketing expertise with asset management and hedge fund clients. A deep understanding of global markets and proficiency in Fixed Income Sales & Trading (FIST) are highly desirable. This role requires excellent collaboration skills to provide effective solutions in partnership with affiliated entities such as a securities firm and asset management firm, fostering new business development. Additionally, they are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine passion for creating new business opportunities from scratch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To build, monitor and develop the relationship with financial institutions in the assigned region/countries including those branch offices and subsidiaries globally and handle relationship manager's roles in the area and to monitor their activities in order to maximize the revenue from such relationship and meet the yearly budget.
  • To promote various products to all financial institutions in the assigned region/countries to achieve the targeted volume and revenue. Products include Yen clearing, O&D, and treasury and derivative products and other products that the bank wants to sell.
  • New business origination, Maintain existing client relationships, value creation for clients and the bank with active cross selling on the Group's product ranges. i.e. Liability products for the bank at the time of writing. Ensure long-standing client relationship and create an optimal contribution in terms of economic profit for the Group as a whole. Work as a team player to maintain and build Financial Institution client relationships.
  • General administrative duties associated with client coverage including annual review, reporting, transaction documents negotiation in line with internal processes, client relationship management tools, call reports following visits to clients, regular update of the agenda of client meetings, updated record of deal pipe and booked deals.
  • To support and co-work well with other teams, regions, business departments, branches, Treasury Units, Syndication and other Departments Group Companies but not limited to for business development and activity.
  • Active engagement on day-to-day local FIG operation and KYC issues with full compliance to HKMA and the bank's guidelines and procedures.
  • To monitor and take appropriate actions to safeguard risk profile to protect the franchise of the bank.
  • Watching out for potential fraud or market abuse via close management and by responding effectively and comprehensively to escalation signals coming from the contacts at clients to the direct report management.
  • Mobilize/ Influence team/ other members to achieve and accelerate the proposed initiatives for business transformation. To support junior RMs and step in their deals to solve problems faced by others.
Requirements:

  • University graduated with at least 10 years of experience in the financial industry
  • Good knowledge of current financial market and Banking practice.
  • Good knowledge and awareness of relevant regulatory requirement and regulations is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of both FX/Rates and Credit
  • Working experience at a RM level role in marketing for investor clients (e.g. fund managers, hedge funds)
  • Some team leadership/management experience is desirable
  • Track Record of leading multiple complexes, international projects in a Global Markets / FIST / EST and / or investment Banking environment.
  • Demonstrate a track record to build and commercialize relationships with senior executives.
  • Demonstrate confidence and interpersonal skills to be able to handle senior client relationships.
  • Demonstrate an analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and creativity.
  • Demonstrate career ambition and pragmatism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, fluency in Putonghua is desirable.
