Role and Responsibilities

In this role you will
  • The role holder is part of Finance NFR team supporting the Head of Finance NFR Asia and Middle East and the specialist teams on Risk Appetite monitoring for Financial Reporting Risk and ensuring Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance for Finance and Non-Finance departments within the bank in Asia
  • Provide SME oversight and support in ensuring SOX procedures are in place for relevant businesses and functions, including coordination for SOX processes and assessing control deficiencies for potential themes etc
  • Perform Risk and Control Assessment challenge and oversight activities, including challenging Risk and Control Owners regarding risk and control management and monitoring, including inherent risk, residual risk, control effectiveness, issues, actions and events
  • Track and escalate risk & control profile, including issues and actions, impacts of external environment changes, emerging risk and changes to the business strategy and conduct impact, to relevant governance forums as necessary
  • Ensure appropriate governance standards are in place for financial reporting including SOX and provide quality risk and control MI to finance management in supporting their decision making.
  • Work closely with internal and external auditors for process and controls discussion, together with relevant businesses and functions to ensure audit findings are factually correct and drive appropriate control remediation actions

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

To be successful you will need
  • Finance or Accounting qualification with relevant work experience covering risk and control in banking / financial services industry
  • Strong control mindset and good understanding of the operations and processes in Finance including Product Control is preferred
  • Good understanding and accounting knowledge in banking products and financial instruments such fixed income, derivatives, money markets
  • Knowledge on Enterprise Risk Management framework
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication (both verbal and written), collaboration and interpersonal skills are critical.
  • Commitment to drive continuous improvement, self-motivated, confident, and capable of working autonomously as well as being a good team player
