The AME (Asia and Middle East") Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO") is an elevated and expanded function managing all data and analytics related matters for AME, consistently and similarly to the other CDAO construct in the UK, IWPB, CIB/HCIB, and Group Infrastructure approved by HSBC Board. The function is accountable to deliver the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy into AME, enabling business growth and reducing data risk for the Hong Kong business and AME entities.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of HK Delivery, Asia and Middle East Chief Data & Analytics Office

Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly accomplished Director to serve as HK Value Stream Delivery Head, reporting directly to the Head of Delivery, AME CDAO. This critical leadership role focuses on overseeing the end-to-end delivery of data value streams, ensuring seamless integration from data ingestion to analytics output and business value realization. You will be accountable for orchestrating cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact data products and solutions, driving efficiency and innovation in data flows. You will lead a team of delivery specialists and managers, partnering closely with business, technology, and operations stakeholders to transform data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management and Advocacy
  • Establish close relationship with senior business stakeholders in Hong Kong, acting as their trusted focal point for data and analytics delivery for Hong Kong Business, Data, and Technology.
  • Establish an effective mechanism to engage business stakeholders in Hong Kong from both AMH and HASE perspective, and bring them into a same delivery picture with strong advocacy and storytelling skills
  • Develop a stakeholder map to understand and identify consistent or conflicting expectations, and develop management options for executive to make informed and collective decisions with trade-offs in mind
  • Develop necessary materials and advocate for HK Data Delivery across relevant Value Stream constructs, and address key business stakeholder expectations including delivery roadmap, metrics, cost (investment and recharges) and benefits.


Delivery and Execution of Hong Kong Data Value Stream
  • Drive delivery and execution of Hong Kong Data Value Stream, based on the relevant portfolio demand and use-cases from AME and Hong Kong Business.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of Hong Kong Data Value Stream, including the alignment of relevant OKRs and metrics from HSBC Data Strategy and HK Business, prioritization of funding, and progress reporting
  • Maintain a clear business story on how the HSBC Data Strategy will address demand from Hong Kong Business, especially on the reduction of necessary turn-around time to get data and run analytics.
  • Establish a strong feedback loop to advocacy Hong Kong Business demand with global counterparts (e.g. DAO portfolio and project management, CTO Data Technology).


Delivery Governance, Control, and Reporting
  • Own and represent Hong Kong Delivery within CDAO AME delivery function (e.g. Program Steering Committee, Quarterly Business Review), with the right business and technology stakeholders
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery lifecycle in line with HSBC's delivery frameworks and standards, and provide control and reporting artifacts to meet Data Enabler Value Stream expectation.
  • Maintain a clear view of how the global HSBC Data Strategy Investment (c.$150m globally) and respective regional budge (c.$20m regionally) will land into Hong Kong Business
  • Oversee and be able to articulate how HSBC Data Strategy Investment will recharge to Hong Kong Business


Team Leadership and Resource Management
  • Establish an effective mechanism to manage HK Delivery across AMH/HASE Business and Technology
  • Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and governance to a team of senior program and project managers, instilling a culture of execution excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop an effective relationship with key vendors and mobilize resources augmentation for delivery
  • Cultivate the right HSBC leadership culture, and develop effective ways of working for the team


Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field; Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project and program management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large-scale data and analytics delivery for Hong Kong
  • Exceptional engagement skill with senior business stakeholder is a must, with proved track record to manage executive-level conversation with strong advocacy and storytelling skills
  • Strong understanding on HSBC's Value Stream construct and its evolving changes, with relevant expertise to manage investment discussions, delivery roadmap and metrics
  • Strong understanding in HSBC's organisational construct and awareness on recent changes across the enterprise, with solid experience to navigate complexities across global, regional, and market expectation
  • Strong literacy and understanding on the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy and its Execution Roadmap, across key technology components (Reference Data, Data Fabric, Control Automation), and business outcomes (e.g. Non-Resident Chinese growth for Hong Kong business).
  • Outstanding leadership abilities, including team building, mentoring, and driving organizational change.
