The AME (Asia and Middle East") Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO") is an elevated and expanded function managing all data and analytics related matters for AME, consistently and similarly to the other CDAO construct in the UK, IWPB, CIB/HCIB, and Group Infrastructure approved by HSBC Board. The function is accountable to deliver the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy into AME, enabling business growth and reducing data risk for the Hong Kong business and AME entities.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Head of Demand Management, Asia and Middle East Chief Data & Analytics Office.

Role Purpose

We are seeking a highly accomplished Director to lead our Data Portfolio Demand Management function, reporting directly to the Head of Delivery, AME CDAO. This critical leadership role is responsible for managing the intake, prioritization, and alignment of data and analytics demands across the organization, ensuring that portfolio decisions support strategic objectives and deliver maximum value. You will be accountable for assessing incoming requests, balancing resource constraints, and optimizing the data portfolio to drive business outcomes. You will serve as the central point of coordination for demand forecasting, leading a team of portfolio analysts and managers, and partnering closely with business, technology, and regional stakeholders, to provide oversight and support to strategic planning, project delivery, finance, operational risk and support activities to design, implement and manage efficient operational processes, act as independent challenge authority and provide direction to ensure targets are met, as well as provide data analytics and management reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Management and Advocacy
  • Establish close relationship with both global, business and global infrastructure counterparts on portfolio demand management and business management.
  • Act as the trusted focal point for the CDAO AME delivery office to manage all demand management and financial management matters including investment and recharges in context of value stream construct
  • Develop a stakeholder map to understand and identify consistent or conflicting funding prioritization conversation, and develop management options for CDAO AME Head of Delivery to make informed and collective decisions at Programme Steering Committee and Quarterly Business Review.
  • Develop necessary materials and advocate for the CDAO AME Head of Delivery, to address key business stakeholder expectations including delivery roadmap, metrics, cost (investment and recharges) and benefits.


Business Demand Management, Requirement Validation and Triage
  • Establish an effective mechanism to collect, validate, duplicate, and register data and analytics requirement from AME and Hong Kong Business into a single portfolio view, in unit of prioritized use-cases
  • Establish an effective mechanism to triage use-cases into respective delivery pipelines e.g. Remediation with Quick Fix Pods, Integration into Data Strategy Execution Roadmap, and Global Product Enhancement.
  • Maintain a clear business story on how the HSBC Data Strategy will address business demand from AME and Hong Kong Business, enable business growth and reduce data risk
  • Establish a strong feedback loop to triage and register AME and Hong Kong Business demand with global counterparts (e.g. DAO portfolio and project management, CTO Data Technology).


Delivery Governance, Control, and Reporting
  • Support Head of Delivery CDAO AME to manage effective governance on CDAO AME delivery (e.g. Program Steering Committee, Quarterly Business Review), with the right business and technology stakeholders
  • Develop an effective way to register relevant demand into a single demand portal linked with necessary metrics and delivery tracking platforms e.g. OKR on JIRA
  • Maintain a clear view of how the global HSBC Data Strategy Investment (c.$150m globally) and respective regional budge (c.$20m regionally) will land into AME and Hong Kong Business
  • Articulate and advocate how HSBC Data Strategy Investment will recharge to AME and Hong Kong Business


Team Leadership and Resource Management
  • Establish an effective team to manage Demand, Financial, and Business Management for CDAO AME delivery
  • Provide direct leadership, mentorship, and governance to a team of senior program and project managers, instilling a culture of execution excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop an effective relationship with key vendors and mobilize resources augmentation for delivery
  • Cultivate the right HSBC leadership culture, and develop effective ways of working for the team


Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project and program management, with at least 7 years in a demand management or business management leadership role overseeing large-scale data and analytics deliveries.
  • Strong understanding on HSBC's Value Stream construct and its evolving changes, with relevant expertise to manage investment allocation, recharges for businesses, and demand management reporting
  • Strong understanding in HSBC's organisational construct and awareness on recent changes across the enterprise, with solid experience to navigate complexities across global, regional, and market expectation
  • Solid knowledge of data management practices, with active industry knowledge across key data domains such as data risk, data commercialization, data platforms, and data management trends
  • Strong literacy and understanding on the refreshed HSBC Data Strategy and its Execution Roadmap, across key technology components (Reference Data, Data Fabric, Control Automation), and business outcomes (e.g. Non-Resident Chinese growth for Hong Kong business).
  • Good knowledge of regulatory environments, market dynamics, and cultural considerations in the Asia and Middle East regions.
  • Outstanding leadership abilities, including team building, mentoring, and driving organizational change.
