About this role:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist Lead with a strong background in AI/ML model development within the banking industry. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML, with prior experience in building and implementing various type of propensity models, forecasting solutions and GenAI Solutions. This role requires deep technical expertise in Python, Spark, PySpark, and VertexAI tools, along with a strong business acumen to translate business requirements into actionable AI/ML solutions, who can drive the solutions design, recommend different AI/ML algo or solution to address the business problems.
What you'll do and what success looks like in this role:
- Identify business opportunities by applying data modelling, machine learning, deep learning and NLP to identify opportunities, and make valuable discoveries leading to better business decision making
- Play a vital role in generating innovative solutions by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets, both structured and unstructured, applying advanced statistical, data mining, and machine-learning techniques.
- Generate and test hypotheses, analyze and interpret the results of product experiments
- Solid working experiences in design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models, with a focus on Time Deposit Pricing Models to optimize interest rate offers.
- Lead and drive the end-to-end AI/ML model development, including data preparation, feature engineering, model training, validation, and deployment.
- Conduct model validation, performance tuning, and A/B testing to evaluate and enhance model effectiveness.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and implement AI/ML solutions that drive business impact.
- Provides mentorship and guidance to junior team members when necessary.
- Take full accountable and ownership on AI/ML projects. manage project delivery, project risks with proper escalation.
- Utilize Python, Spark, PySpark, and Cloud AI studio tools to build and optimize machine learning models.
- Ensure compliance with banking regulations and risk management policies in AI/ML development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Engineering, Business Analytics, and IT, to integrate models into production environments.
- Stay up to date with the latest AI/ML technologies, tools, and industry best practices to improve model performance and innovation.
- Identify new analytics tools and techniques and lead development and deployment of infrastructure for generating and analyzing information
What is required and what we're looking for:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing data scientist team.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in AI/ML model development within the banking industry.
- Degree holder in Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics or other related disciplines
- Proven experience in building Time Deposit Pricing Models to optimize deposit rates and enhance customer engagement.
- Demonstrable professional experience in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing (A/B testing), NLP, deep learning and optimization algorithms
- Excellent skills on Python, Spark, PySpark or SQL, with understanding of database structure, model design and segmentation techniques
- Hands-on experience with Cloud AI Studio tools (e.g., Google Vertex AI, AWS SageMaker Studio, or Azure ML).
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques.
- Ability to work independently and strategically, open to tackling new issues and sounding out new ideas.
- Able to explain analytical methodologies and concepts in non-technical language
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of AI/ML model development projects.
- Strong business acumen and ability to align AI/ML solutions with banking business objectives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a results-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.
- A proactive and can-do attitude
- Excellent communication skills in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in deploying AI/ML models into production within a banking environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to AI/ML models in financial institutions.
- Prior experience in leading AI/ML projects and leading the data scientist team and coaching/mentoring junior team members.
