Head of Data Management, IWPB Role purpose HSBC's Data Strategy vision is to transform the bank into a data-led organisation through the provision of controlled, trustworthy, and secure data that empowers informed decision-making and unlocks commercial value.
Our Data Strategy is three-fold; - Provide high quality data that allows better decision-making and acts as an enabler for AI use cases;
- Uplift data literacy by empowering each employee to understand their data responsibilities and opportunities; and
- Simplify the data landscape through removing data and technology duplication and driving data quality at source, ultimately reducing the number of downstream adjustments and reconciliations.

The Head of Data Management, International Wealth, and Premier Banking is a senior leadership role within the CDAO organisation with accountability for our Business in International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB).
- Role has primary accountability for data standards, data risk management, data remediation activities and the implementation of data controls
- Strong partnerships required with internal and external control and risk management teams including 2 nd line of defense and legal as well as key regional regulators.
- Shape data platform strategy in the IWPB Business. Ensure support and engagement enabling strategic platforms to be uplifted and non-strategic platforms are demised.
- This role acts in close partnership with the Businesses, Functions and Technology across HSBC and calls for exceptional stakeholder partnership and delivery capabilities.
Key priorities include: - Act as a trusted advisor to the CDAO and Chief Commercial Officer on all data related matters.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data risk management framework aligned to the CDAO and Chief Commercial Officer's operational objectives and strategic priorities. Define and manage data ownership responsibilities within operational teams.
- Collaborate with technology and other business units to ensure data alignment and integration. Represent the data in cross functional projects and initiatives.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures within operational areas. Ensure compliance with relevant data regulation.
- Partner with operational leaders to identify and implement data-drive process improvements. Drive data improvement / remediation initiatives, establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) or appropriate risk metrics.
- Develop and deliver data training programmes for operational staff, fostering a culture of data accountability and continuous improvement.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities Key accountabilities include: Data Strategy - Act as a trusted advisor on all data matters within the International Wealth and Premier Banking Business
- Drive adoption of Data Platform and Reference Data strategy in line with Board commitments.
- Drive demonstrable financial benefits or cost reduction.
Stakeholder Engagement - Provide ongoing engagement with stakeholders to ensure buy-in and alignment to Group Data Strategy. This includes Business, Functions, ESG and Technology teams
- Accountable lead in working with Businesses and Functions teams to secure sufficient funding for the execution of agreed data deliverables and support the prioritisation of funding.
Subject Matter Expert - Accountable lead for ensuring all stakeholders are sufficiently literate on data matters (e.g. controls, regulations and strategic objectives of Platform Strategy etc.) and accountabilities.
- Accountable lead for providing local perspective into global deliverables (e.g. changes to operating instructions).

Data Controls - Accountable lead for driving compliance with data control and data quality remediation within International Wealth and Premier Banking.
- Accountable lead for ensuring data control metrics are provided and utilised.
Leadership & Teamwork - Ability to lead and influence with gravitas, in the absence of authority, at the senior leadership level of a matrix organisation.
- Build and drive strong partnerships with key stakeholders who are responsible for management of Data Risk including Business and Infrastructure COO and CIO's
- Build and lead a high calibre team whilst ensuring high engagement and motivation levels.
- Build a team which is collaborative, empowered and champions the Group data strategy.
