We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an
Associate Director, G10 Trader.
In this role you will: - You will be joining the G10 STIR/FX Trading desk, an integral part of the foreign exchange business under Markets and Securities Services (MSS) within the global HSBC network. The role is based in Hong Kong and reports to the Head of G10 STIR APAC.
- Your main responsibility will be market-making in G10 FX swaps, as well as interest rate swaps and cross-currency swaps . You will provide timely and accurate prices to the bank's global clients, with distribution through both electronic and voice channels.
- You are expected to generate revenue by facilitating franchise flows and effectively managing inventory risk positions, while adhering to the Bank's risk appetite and applicable limits. Revenue targets will be set annually with your line manager in accordance with your personal growth plan.
- You will own a key currency franchise under the local book arrangement in Hong Kong. You are expected to communicate and collaborate closely with global FX traders in other hubs, such as London and New York, sharing integral market views and insights, and internalizing risk recycling wherever possible.
- As you will be conducting a regulated activity, the highest standards of ethics and adherence to the FX code of conduct and all applicable internal policies are of paramount importance.
- You will work closely with sales colleagues across APAC sites to further grow HSBC's leading market position.
- You will participate in various technology working groups aimed at improving tools for HSBC's pricing and risk management, analysis of revenue statistics, and operational robustness. KPIs related to these items will be included in your annual goal setting.

To be successful you will need: - Understanding of G10 FX swaps, as well as derivatives such as OIS and IRS, interest rate futures, bond futures, and cross-currency swaps; familiarity with HRR, predelivery, and full termination.
- Knowledge of pricing non-standard, bespoke derivatives using SUMMIT. Examples include fixed-float currency swaps, amortizing swaps, cross-currency swaps without notional exchanges, swaps with unique payment schedules, or any other requirements demanded by our franchise.
- Strong understanding of financial mathematics and discounting concepts. Candidates should be able to articulate how details such as day count conventions, payment frequency, lookback periods, or payment delays influence derivatives pricing.
- Keen interest in global macro-dynamics, monetary and fiscal policy, global geopolitics, and economic cycles, with the ability to explain their impacts on interest rates, currencies, and funding markets.
- Risk appetite for inventory risk-taking in cash FX, mono-currency interest rates, and/or cross-currency basis, expressed as outright or relative value (RV) basis. Candidates should be able to quantify risk exposures in terms of DV01, instrument choice, P&L, and risk limits.
- Strong sense of ethics and conduct, as well as maturity as a financial market professional. The ability to multi-task and work well under pressure, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, is expected.
- Proficiency in a language in addition to English and/or experience working in Asia Pacific is a plus, but not a necessity.
