Responsiblity:
- Oversee and lead the Life Insurance Underwriting team, ensuring alignment with business objectives and service standards
- Serve as the subject matter expert across simplified, comprehensive, and high-net-worth underwriting, as well as claims adjudication for all life insurance offerings
- Advise senior leadership on strategies to establish and sustain long-term mortality and morbidity assumptions
- Contribute technical underwriting and claims insights to support product innovation and optimize the performance of the existing policy portfolio
- Develop, maintain, and enhance underwriting and claims frameworks, including policies, procedures, and manuals, ensuring compliance with internal governance and external regulations
- Own and manage key processes and controls, conducting regular assessments to identify risk exposures and drive continuous improvement
- Manage third-party relationships and vendor oversight, including performance monitoring, contract evaluation, pricing input, and strategic alignment to ensure service delivery meets expectations
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance operational productivity
- Ensure team output aligns with business demand and service level expectations
- Coordinate daily operations across multiple teams, setting priorities and allocating resources effectively
- Define performance benchmarks and quality targets to support production efficiency and financial outcomes
- Lead the execution of transformation initiatives and change management programs as directed by senior leadership
- Design and implement standard operating procedures in line with the Business Services Operating Model, while documenting and addressing any region-specific variations
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, or a closely related field
- Professional designations such as ALU, FLMI, or CLU are strongly preferred
- At least 15 years of experience in life underwriting and claims, including 5+ years in the HNW segment
- Proven leadership background with a minimum of 10 years in management roles
- Holds underwriting authority for high-value cases, typically USD 20 million or above
- Exceptional skills in communication, relationship-building, and critical analysis
- Highly driven, resilient, and thrives in fast-paced environments
- Fluent in both English and Chinese (spoken and written)
