Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Governance of Strategy Execution
- Support the tactical and longer-term CIO strategy by working closely with the CIO ExCo stakeholders
- Proactively monitor and manage the execution of the CIO strategy through the production of scorecards and supporting insight for the CIO and CIO executive team.
- Responsible for the overall scheduling and running of the weekly [GBGF] Exco Governance forums and COO Leadership team meetings, and driving actions through to completion and logging of decisions
- Actively input into management reports, presentations and papers and provide periodic updates for the CIO as required.
- Investigate emerging risks and issues, provide reports and form recommendations for action as directed by the CIO.
- Manage the CIO commitments across all group level governance forums, including writing and reviewing papers for steering committees, risk forums and executive committees.
Customers and Stakeholders

- Provide analysis and support to external parties (e.g. regulators) as needed, either in response to queries / audits, or proactively through stakeholder management

- Engage with stakeholders across CIO to support delivery of the Group CIO's objectives, to ensure regulatory and legal commitments are met and provide proactive issue management.
- Develop strong relationships with Global Businesses, Group Functions and GCOO executive team to support the CIO priorities.
- Encourage diversity at all levels of the CIO organisation.
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Ensure all meetings attended or chaired by the CIO are run effectively, e.g., oversight of secretarial duties, prepare briefing notes, proactive management of actions, and forward planning of meeting cadence.
- Demonstrate thought-leadership to support the CIO in the delivery of the bank's strategy.
- Ensure all legal and regulatory responsibilities are met.
Essential candidate requirements (experience, skills, competencies etc.):
- Ability to translate technology strategy and align and manage accountabilities accordingly
- Experience of managing within a complex matrix environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and management skills, establishing and managing a wide range of projects, across multiple workstream teams and stakeholders of different levels, cultures, and operating models
- Experienced in simplifying processes, removing blockers, and accelerating the pace of change.
- Maintains expert knowledge of stakeholder requirements, competitor activities and market trends to influence future direction
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions to drive business outcomes
- Understanding of the HSBC Group and its strategy, structures and processes
- Knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market
