Job Description

Location: Hong Kong

We are seeking a hands-on Associate Director - Debt Restructuring & Transaction Execution to join D.F. King's cross-border Debt Issuer Services team in Hong Kong. This role is ideal for someone with strong project execution experience in Debt Capital Markets (DCM) - particularly liability management and public bond restructurings - who is looking to lead transactions end-to-end rather than focus solely on business development.

Reporting to the General Manager of Orient Capital and D.F. King Asia, you will play a key role in executing complex cross-border transactions across APAC and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead execution of complex liability management transactions, including public bond restructurings, tender offers, consent solicitations, and exchange offers.
  • Manage transaction lifecycles from end-to-end, including due diligence, legal documentation review, investor outreach, and settlement processes.
  • Liaise with investment banks, law firms, financial advisors, Central Securities Depositories, custodians, and institutional investors.
  • Work closely with internal teams across APAC, EMEA, and the US to coordinate global deal activity.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, with a focus on delivery and execution quality.
  • Support origination and client relationship efforts as needed - but this is primarily an execution-driven role.
  • Oversee reporting, compliance, and billing processes related to transactions.
  • Act as a senior project lead, ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of transactions.

Experience & Requirements
  • Proven experience in Debt Capital Markets, with a strong focus on liability management and public bond restructuring.
  • Deep understanding of DCM execution processes across Asia (experience with Europe or US markets a plus).
  • Comfortable running projects independently, managing multiple stakeholders under tight timelines.
  • Strong knowledge of key transaction types: exchange offers, consent solicitations, tender offers, etc.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and English - essential for working with Mainland China-based issuers and advisors.
  • Commercial mindset with excellent problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail; strong project management and time management skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Economics or related field.
  • Previous leadership or team management experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours when required.
