VP / Director - Counterparty Credit Risk Leading Chinese Investment Bank | Hong Kong Mandarin Required

Our client, a top-tier Chinese investment bank with a strong and fast-growing international franchise, is seeking an experienced Counterparty Credit Risk professional (VP or Director level) to join its Hong Kong office. This is a strategic hire within the Risk Management function, covering global markets products and key institutional counterparties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform in-depth credit risk assessments on a wide range of counterparties, including banks, brokers, asset managers, hedge funds, and corporates.
  • Conduct credit analysis across derivatives, structured products, securities financing transactions (SFT), and other Global Markets exposures.
  • Lead the approval process for new transactions, new counterparties, and credit limit renewals; prepare high-quality credit proposals for senior management and Head Office.
  • Monitor daily exposures, identify early warning signals, and escalate potential risks promptly.
  • Partner closely with Front Office, Legal, Compliance, and Market Risk teams to ensure effective risk mitigation and adherence to internal policies.
  • Participate in regulatory reviews (HKMA, SFC) and assist with internal risk model enhancements.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous process improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related disciplines.
  • 8-12+ years of relevant experience in counterparty credit risk within investment banking, securities firms, or major financial institutions.
  • Strong knowledge of derivatives, ISDA/CSA frameworks, SFTs, exposure metrics (PFE, EE, CVA), and global markets products.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and assess trading risk profiles.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with senior stakeholders across regions.
  • Mandarin fluency is essential due to frequent communication with Mainland stakeholders.
