Position Description The Director, Rates Trading role is responsible for building and leading CSI FICC's US Rates market making business. The role will be responsible for building pricing tools to provide two-way pricing quotes on US government securities throughout Asia hours with Sales based onshore and offshore internationally. Working as a global team with the US CSI trading desk for agency client flow during US hours and increasing our direct trading participation in the US Treasury Central Limit Order Books. The role will work closely with other functional areas of FICC as well as cross-divisional business partners to generate business with a focus on growing franchise driven client flow activities.
Key Areas of Responsibilities - Set up a new business desk to support US government securities market making in Asia hours.
- Work with risk functions and support departments such as IT, Finance, Operations and Compliance to build the necessary internal framework required to support the US government securities market making business.
- Responsible for the representative activities arising out of the US government securities market making business in Hong Kong.
- Responsible for the PnL production of the US government securities' market making books and work with risk department to keep within limits and perform timely remediation risk management where required.
- Generate trade ideas for general sales and client prospecting in US government securities to help promote trading volumes for CSI's participation in the US Treasury central limit order books.
- Regular US Rates trading markets update, provide outlook on thematic trading ideas and desk axes to Sales.
Requirements - Degree in quantitative finance, mathematics, engineering or a similar discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of trading experience gained through a reputable global macro institutions, with at least 5 years dedicated to US Rates trading running own risk book and have familiarity of the liquidity channels around the clock.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Attained all required regulatory qualifications to carry out the necessary licensed activities in Hong Kong, specifically for this role the candidate will be registered with the SFC in Hong Kong for Types 1 & 2 activities.
- Strong understanding of the macro markets liquidity channel during Asia hour trading and linkage into London hours.
- Takes immense self-initiatives and highly self-motivated to build from ground zero by working closely with support teams and trading desks to establish a full scale macro flow franchise in Hong Kong and other regional centres.
- A strong team player with good communication skills working working with various functional teams and cross-business divisions.
- Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese or Putonghua), as the job requires marketing to international clients and writing on trade idea recommendation and macro market outlook.
