A stable Chinese Bank is seeking an experienced General Compliance Manager to join their Hong Kong office. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the Bank's operations meet regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of compliance. In addition to overseeing general compliance functions, the successful candidate will be involved in SFC type licencing matters, ensuring timely applications, renewals, and ongoing compliance with Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) regulations.

Your new role

  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance policies and procedures across the Bank.
  • Advise management and business units on regulatory requirements and compliance risks.
  • Handle SFC type licencing applications, renewals, and ongoing obligations.
  • Liaise with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders on compliance matters.
  • Conduct compliance training and awareness programs for staff.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the Bank's operations.
  • Prepare compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • 5-6+ years' experience in compliance within the banking or financial services sector. Welcome candidates from Chinese Banks/Securities/Asset Management.
  • Welcome, PRC candidates.
  • Familiar with Chinese documentation and reporting
  • Strong knowledge of SFC regulations (including the Code of Conduct, Fund Manager Code of Conduct, and licensing requirements), HKMA guidelines, and AML/CFT framework
  • Experience in handling SFC regulatory liaison, fund registration, and compliance monitoring/testing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently under pressure.
  • Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is a must.
