The Job
  • Responsible for leading an underwriting production team in handling underwriting assessment and providing service support to distribution teams (agency focus) / customer enquiries related to underwriting.
  • Develop and implement underwriting and operational frameworks, policies, and procedure guidelines.
  • Monitor new business processing and underwriting to ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are met with good quality and in line with company service standards.
  • Perform underwriting assessments and review suggested cases from junior underwriters on both medical and non-medical cases within approval limits.
  • Liaise closely with team leads in distribution channels to identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance internal processes and procedures to improve overall customer service delivery.
  • Maintain strong business relationships with channels including agency, bancassurance, brokers, etc.
  • Provide specific and structured underwriting training to distribution channels to uplift underwriting knowledge and case quality.
  • Prepare clear, high-impact presentation materials

The Person
  • University graduate or above; professional insurance qualifications such as FLMI are preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of solid experience in life and medical insurance underwriting, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong business acumen with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, with strong analytical capabilities and an effective team-player mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel
