Director - Project Finance / Structured Finance Credit Risk
Location: Hong Kong Coverage: Global Large Corporate & Structured Finance A leading financial institution is seeking a Director‑level Credit Risk professional to join its Asia‑based credit risk team. This role focuses on project finance and structured finance transactions, with responsibility for credit risk approval and ongoing portfolio monitoring across a global large corporate client base.
The position offers exposure to complex, cross‑border transactions and close engagement with senior stakeholders across origination, product and risk functions.
Key Responsibilities Credit Approval & Transaction Assessment
- Lead independent credit analysis and approval for project finance and structured finance transactions, including infrastructure, energy, power, renewables, transportation and other capital‑intensive sectors
- Evaluate deal structures, financial models, cash flow assumptions, security packages and covenants
- Assess key risk factors such as sponsor quality, construction and operating risk, counterparty risk, legal structure, country risk and ESG considerations
- Prepare and present credit memorandums and recommendations to senior approval committees
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management - Oversee the ongoing monitoring of a global portfolio of project finance and structured finance exposures
- Conduct periodic credit reviews, covenant monitoring and risk rating assessments
- Identify early warning indicators and emerging risks, recommending appropriate risk mitigation actions
- Contribute to portfolio analysis, stress testing and thematic reviews
Stakeholder Management - Act as a senior risk partner to front‑office teams, balancing business growth with prudent risk standards
- Work closely with legal, compliance and internal stakeholders on transaction execution and portfolio matters
- Support internal governance requirements, audits and regulatory reviews where required
Requirements - 12+ years of experience in credit risk, with strong exposure to project finance and/or structured finance
- Proven experience covering large corporate, structured or cash flow-based lending
- Solid financial analysis and modelling capability
- Experience operating at Director level or equivalent, with confidence engaging senior internal stakeholders
- Strong judgment, attention to detail and ability to challenge constructively
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage
