Position Overview Our client, an established international investment bank specializing in Asia-Pacific markets, is affiliated with one of the world's largest banking entities. They are seeking experienced professionals to join its Investment Banking Division (IBD) in Hong Kong. This role focuses on sector-specific teams, particularly in biotech and healthcare, and offers opportunities to contribute to high-impact corporate finance transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in a wide range of corporate finance activities, including initial public offerings (IPOs), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), equity placements, and other capital market initiatives.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of technologies, business models, and market opportunities within biotech and healthcare sectors to identify and pursue promising projects.
- Perform detailed industry research, company analysis, financial modeling, and valuation assessments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in equity capital markets and corporate finance to originate, structure, and execute deals while ensuring successful client delivery.
- Support due diligence processes, marketing efforts, book-building, pricing, stabilization, and settlement for active transactions.
- Build and maintain relationships with issuers, investors, and key stakeholders.
- Handle additional ad-hoc responsibilities as directed by senior team members, which may include market origination for specialized products such as convertible bonds.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Biotechnology, Medicine, or a related discipline; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA or MSc) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in investment banking, ideally within anIBD at a financial institution, withspecialized knowledge in biotech, healthcare, or technology sectors:
- Associate: 2-5 years.
- Assistant Vice President: 5-8 years.
- Vice President: 8+ years, including demonstrated leadership in transaction execution.
- Proficiency in analytical tools, including advanced financial modeling, valuation methods, and sector-specific research.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, capital market dynamics, and transaction workflows (e.g., IPOs and M&A).
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to facilitate effective client and team interactions.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin (Putonghua); proficiency in Cantonese is advantageous.
- Relevant professional certifications, such as CFA, are considered an asset.
