Business Function Group Legal, Compliance & Secretariat ("LCS") ensures that the bank's interests are protected by zealously guarding and enhancing its reputation and capital. Responsibilities - Provide overall legal and compliance support to Consumer Banking, Private Banking and Bancassurance business ("CBG & PB"), including but not limited to:
(a) manage legal and compliance risks arising from the activities and operations undertaken by CBG & PB;
(b) provide critical risk assessment of transactions, structures and new initiatives;
(c) review and advise on existing and new laws and regulations;
(d) review and where applicable, assist to negotiate contracts and agreements with CBG & PB counterparties;
(e) review and revise customer-facing documentation;
(f) work with the relevant CBG & PB business units and support units to develop and maintain standard documentation templates for specific transactions, structures or products;
(g) work with the CBG & PB business units and support units, where necessary, to develop and issue guidelines on specific matters to manage legal and compliance risks;
(h) assist in audit, investigation, mediation and complaints; and
(i) manage key litigation by and against CBG & PB. - Manage CBG & PB's relationships with external law firms and regulators and provide high quality, practical and succinct advice in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Participate in key projects and initiatives of CBG & PB.
- Support CBG & PB Legal and Compliance team members and other LCS team members on any regional projects and initiative and manage DBS' legal and regulatory risks.
Requirements - Law degree from a common law jurisdiction. Hong Kong qualified lawyer preferred
- Minimum of 4-6 years' relevant legal and compliance experience in the finance or banking industry from law firm or financial institution
- Good knowledge of relevant banking, insurance and other financial services related laws or regulations and operations as well as knowledge of the different products and services offered by CBG & PB
- Excellent people management and communication skills
- Ability to build strategic working relationship with all business and support units as well as external regulators
- Good business focus with insights, innovation and the ability to balance risks and controls and foster compliance culture and risk awareness culture in the bank
- Strong sense of ownership with a growth mindset
