About the Role The role is accountable for shaping and implementing the organisation's data strategy, ensuring robust data lifecycle management, data quality, and data security across enterprise. It leads the design and continuous enhancement of data governance practices, strengthens regulatory reporting readiness, and partners with BU/SU to uplift AIA's data capabilities and governance maturity.
Additionally, this role plays a pivotal part in guiding and influencing cross-functional teams, direct on data operating models, governance controls, and enterprise wide data initiatives. By driving alignment, resolving cross domain priorities, and enabling informed decision making, the role ensures the organisation maximises the value of trusted, well governed data.
Roles and Responsibilities: Data Governance & Data Strategy (50%) - Design and institutionalize the Data Operating Model (roles, decision rights, service model) across teams.
- Lead the development, enhancement, and execution of the enterprise-wide data strategy.
- Own data governance frameworks, ensuring it is implemented, monitored and continuously improved across data domains.
- Oversee end-to-end data lifecycle management, from creation and maintenance to usage, retention, archival, and deletion.
- Drive data quality improvement efforts and implement ongoing monitoring processes.
- Define critical data elements (CDE) control design and second-line ready evidence
- Build and maintain senior stakeholder networks to resolve cross-domain priorities and unblock decisions
- Ensure data practices comply with regulatory, compliance, and internal audit requirements.
Data Remediation & Regulatory Reporting (30%) - Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify and address data gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues.
- Direct data remediation portfolios for regulatory and operational risk items, implement sustainable fixes (process/controls), and close audit findings.
- Support regulatory and management reporting by enhancing data structures and governance controls.
- Work closely with risk, compliance, and operations teams to ensure strong oversight of critical data elements.
Cross-Functional Project Leadership (20%) - Coach and develop data stewards, product owners and DQ analysts; institute a stewardship community of practice and provide structured feedback and career guidance.
- Raise organizational data literacy through training, playbooks, and embedded controls in workflows / tools (e.g., glossary, catalog, lineage, access).
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver data strategy projects that improve platforms, process flow, and governance control.
- Coordinate with product, engineering, and analytics teams to implement data-driven solutions.
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment and support decision-making for major data initiatives.
Job Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in end-to-end data transformations, data governance, data/AI strategy, data quality, or project governance, with a track record of program delivery.
- Proven records to lead business cases for data strategy / data governance programs.
- Experience in regulatory reporting, risk, compliance, or data management within financial services is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a sharp analytical mindset.
- Commitment to high standards of data quality and documentation.
- Ability to translate complex or technical data concepts into clear, understandable messages for non-technical stakeholders.

- Detail-oriented, structured, and able to maintain accuracy under pressure.
