Virtual Asset Execution Trader
Position Overview
The Virtual Asset Execution Trader will support the buildout and ongoing operations of a regulated virtual asset brokerage for institutional clients in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing the trading infrastructure (connectivity with licensed VATPs, onboarding workflows, compliance controls), and will be responsible for daily trade execution and order management once the platform goes live.
Key Responsibilities
•Assist in designing and implementing virtual asset trading infrastructure, including connections to SFC-licensed VATPs, trade monitoring systems, and related back- and mid-office workflows.
•Coordinate with compliance, technology, and external vendors to ensure all trading activities are in line with SFC regulatory requirements, internal controls, and cybersecurity standards.
•Participate in the UAT (User Acceptance Testing), integration, and enhancement of trading systems and OMS (Order Management Systems).
•Execute spot and derivative virtual asset trades on behalf of institutional clients, ensuring best execution, monitoring slippage, and managing execution risk post system launch.
•Support KYC/AML processes for client onboarding, maintaining high standards of client documentation and data integrity.
•Generate and review trade reports, reconcile trades and positions daily, and promptly escalate trade breaks or operational issues.
•Stay informed of market developments, SFC rules, and changes to VATP licensing or connectivity standards in Hong Kong.
•Provide operational support for ad hoc or complex client orders, including block trades, OTC workflows, and liquidity sourcing.
Required Competencies & Skills
•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related quantitative discipline.
•+ 5 years of experience in trading, operations, or technology within a financial institution; prior exposure to virtual assets/crypto strongly preferred.
•Strong understanding of digital asset markets, trading platforms, and settlement flows, particularly in a regulated environment.
•Knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to Hong Kong SFC Type 1 entities (AML, KYC, best execution, client asset protection).
•Proficiency with spreadsheets, order management systems, and trading applications. Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, SQL) a plus.
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and operational discipline.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines and proactively escalate risk or compliance issues when identified.
Preferred Attributes
•Experience working with or integrating third-party trading APIs, FIX protocol, or institutional crypto trading platforms.
•Familiarity with licensed VATPs or digital asset exchanges and their connectivity requirements.
•High ethical standards, personal integrity, and a compliance-first mindset aligned with industry best practices.
