The Role
Reporting directly to the founders, you will serve as the key technical architect and leader for the core AI product. This is a hands-on builder role combined with team leadership responsibilities. You will shape the technical foundation while scaling an engineering function in Shenzhen.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands-on development of production-grade AI/ML components (e.g., portfolio optimisation, risk analytics, NLP-driven advisory tools, behavioural insights)
- Translate sophisticated wealth management needs into robust, scalable technical architectures
- Build and maintain core systems across data pipelines, model training/serving, and integrations
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a small but elite engineering team in Shenzhen (starting with 2-4 engineers)
- Collaborate closely with Hong Kong-based product, business, and compliance teams
- Travel regularly to Shenzhen for sprint planning, code reviews, and team alignment
Requirements
Essential
- Strong practical knowledge of wealth management (portfolio construction, asset allocation, risk frameworks, private banking processes, regulatory context)
- Recent, demonstrable hands-on coding expertise
- Proven track record shipping real production AI/ML systems (beyond research or prototypes)
- Native or fully fluent Mandarin (spoken and written) for daily collaboration with the Shenzhen team
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to Mainland China and work across HK–SZ dynamics
- Genuine enthusiasm for the startup environment and long-term equity-driven success
Advantageous
- Prior experience in fintech, wealth-tech, or related domains
- History of building and scaling small engineering teams
- Familiarity with the Greater Bay Area tech and talent landscape
