We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an
Underwriting Manager, HNW and Individual Life Business. In this role you will: - Apply HSBC's underwriting policies and principles to ensure we're taking on business that's sound and lasting profitable
- Accept or authorize the acceptance of new business cases or policy changes within your delegated authority limits and on a sound and profitable portfolio basis
- Help monitor and update underwriting rules and guidelines to ensure ongoing market competitiveness and alignment with evolving medical and insurance risk standards
- Identify opportunities to streamline internal processes and procedures , both within and external to this role in order to optimize customer service delivery
- Ensure compliance with established procedures, service standards, Group policies, and regulatory requirements, backed by robust internal controls
- Contribute to a customer-centric environment that is aligned with HSBC's mission and vision, demonstrating sensitivity to customer needs and concerns
- Build strong relationships by sound and effective communications with both internal and external stakeholders
- Deal with challenges and problems promptly, effectively and professionally
- Participate in underwriting projects/implementation/product development
To be successful you will need: - Possess a degree qualification and having professional qualification; LOMA, ALU, ALUCA or CII will be desirable
- Solid experience in Life insurance field with attained underwriting authority across Life, CI and Medical businesses in the High Net Worth field
- Hold a substantial financial sum insured authority
- Ideally experienced in managing Broker, Private Banking and Commercial banking complex or jumbo cases including liaison with Reinsurers
- Hold a substantive complex medical health impairment authority to the order of +150% extra mortality or morbidity to Decline
- Hold full authority and experience over cross border international geographical, occupational and avocational risk assessment disciplines
- Possesses strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
- Be a self-motivated, proactive self-starter with the ability and attributes to act and perform with minimal direction or instruction
- Work beyond the boundaries of usual time and effort in meeting these expectations, creatively and innovatively in often addressing uniquely individual challenges in the Life Insurance market
