Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Security, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Security Operations is responsible for the comprehensive and consistent delivery of physical security operations relating to Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) facilities, assets, staff and visitors in Hong Kong and China.

The AVP Security Operations will be responsible for the direct leadership and management of the HKEX guard force and will be expected to collaborate closely with the other Corporate Security function leads.

Job Duties:

The candidate is required to have senior level security related experience in the areas of physical security, guard force management, travel security, crisis management, incident response and event management. The ability to work both independently and as a team-player in often dynamic or fast-moving situations is critical for this position.

The candidate is required to support the Head of Corporate Security in all areas of the Corporate Security Programme and may be required to provide advice and recommendations to middle and senior management levels on physical security related matters.

Job Responsibilities:
  • To be the primary point of contact for Security Operations at all HKEX sites in Hong Kong and China.
  • The management of the Hong Kong guard force at Corporate Offices and Data Centres, including the Security Operations Centres.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate physical security risks at HKEX sites.
  • Manage response to security incidents and ensure they are appropriately managed and escalated, with timely and accurate incident reporting.
  • Provides necessary physical security related input and support to HKEX stakeholders. Work closely with the Security System Management team and the Corporate Services Department in the implementation of physical security programmes.
  • Maintains strong working relations with internal partners and stakeholders to identify and mitigate physical security issues or risks.
  • Maintain effective levels of liaison and cooperation with external agencies and other external stakeholders for timely incident or emergency response, support and coordination.
  • Manage budget and cost management matters relating to guarding.
  • Ensure effective vendor management and quality control in accordance with Service Level Agreements and contract requirements.
  • Provide security related training and guidance to ensure security staff are familiar with their roles and responsibilities, policy and procedural requirements and incident and emergency response protocols.
  • Promote the professional development and upskilling of the Corporate Security team and guard force.
  • The review and updating of physical security policies, standards and procedures.
  • Work closely with the HKEX Events Team to provide necessary security assistance and support for any events or activities taking place at HKEX Hong Kong premises or at designated off-site locations. Responsible for overseeing event security planning, preparation and execution arrangements to ensure that security and risk concerns are identified, addressed or mitigated.
  • Provide on the ground security team leadership for major or large-scale events involving senior Government officials or VIPs.
Job Requirements:
  • Between 5 -10 years senior level security related leadership in the corporate sector or law enforcement.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and spoken Cantonese. Putonghua is an advantage.
  • A diploma or degree in a relevant discipline or field (criminology, law, security, risk management, safety management).
  • Applicable industry certification or qualification (e.g. CPP Certified Protection Professional) an advantage.
  • Membership of recognized industry groups or bodies (ASIS, the Security Institute, etc) an advantage.
  • Knowledge of physical security, emergency response, crisis management, disaster recovery operations, risk management and business continuity related principles and processes, including organizational planning, co-ordination, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Hong Kong related laws, legal codes and procedures.
  • Experience in security systems, guarding services, vendor management and conference or event security and executive protection.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to work outside office hours, weekends and public holidays, if required.
