Business Unit/ Role Specific Info International Risk and Control sits within International Card Services (ICS) which comprises of all the issuing functions across all 28 international markets excluding the US - colleagues operate across a variety of geographies and disciplines. ICS issues products to our Consumer and Commercial customers - the organization is an integral part of the global growth strategy for American Express; offering differentiated products and services is critical to our success and promises to drive significant growth and value through the delivery of innovative products, tailored to the needs of our customers.
The objective of the ICS Control Management Hong Kong team is to provide specialized and strategic operational risk (OR) advisory specific to product and service areas, and we are looking for an intern to support an ensure control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our ICS business. The role will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies.
Key Responsibilities - Support the ICS Control Management Hong Kong team by performing analysis and monitoring of key Risks, Issues, and Changes.
- Monitor Operational Risk control metrics and provide metrics analysis.
- Gain experience in assessing areas of opportunity to increase team efficiency that will lead to (i) enhance existing processes and/or (ii) eliminate nonvalue added activities.
- Support on key initiatives and ad-hoc projects end to end.
- Support Hong Kong Control Management team in the preparation and coordination of decks: committees, BURs, among others.
Skills and Qualifications - Year 2 or 3 student with a major in Business or related discipline and prior internship/ work experience is preferred.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.
- Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English and Cantonese both written and spoken.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office pack.
Program Period - Intake in June 2026, 3-month period
