We are seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to drive our China coverage as Head of China Corporates . In this pivotal role, you will lead our franchises relationships with the nations most significant State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and Private-Owned Enterprises (POEs). This is a high-impact leadership role for a deeply connected banking veteran with 18+ years of experience who can navigate the intersection of global finance and the dynamic China market, while engaging seamlessly at the highest levels of corporate leadership.

Your Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the comprehensive China corporate strategy, ensuring alignment with global banking objectives and identifying key growth areas across SOE and POE segments.
  • Client Coverage & Origination: Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing team of coverage professionals. Spearhead the origination and flawless execution of a full spectrum of financing and capital markets solutions, including M&A, DCM, ECM, and structured finance.
  • Senior Relationship Management: Cultivate and manage relationships at the highest level—engaging directly with CEOs, CFOs, and Group-level leadership of major Chinese corporates and government-linked entities, acting as a trusted advisor on their international ambitions.
  • Group & Board Reporting: Prepare and present concise, high-impact strategic updates and performance reports to Group Executive Management and Board-level stakeholders , effectively representing the China franchise internally.
  • Market Intelligence: Provide the firm with unparalleled insight into China market trends, regulatory shifts, and geopolitical developments, translating them into actionable client strategies.
  • Governance & Risk: Ensure the highest standards of governance, risk management, and portfolio oversight, maintaining the integrity and sustainability of the China business.

Your Profile

  • Experience: 18+ years of progressive experience in corporate or investment banking within leading global financial institutions, with a significant portion dedicated to the China market.
  • Proven Leadership: A track record of building, leading, and inspiring high-performing coverage teams focused on SOEs and POEs, with a demonstrable ability to drive revenue growth. Must possess prior experience presenting to and influencing Group Executive Committees and Boards .
  • Deep Market Expertise: Intimate and current knowledge of Chinas corporate landscape, economic policies, and regulatory environment, combined with a strong network of senior-level relationships (CEOs/CFOs).
  • Execution Excellence: A history of successfully originating and executing complex, cross-border transactions. You are a banker who can both "hunt" for new business and "farm" deep, existing relationships.
  • Communication & Language: Fluency in both Cantonese, Mandarin and English is essential, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively across cultures and lead bilingual teams.
