A reputable Retail & Wholesale Bank is looking for an experienced Head of Operations to join their Operations department. The Head of Operations will oversee the daily operational activities of the department with 200+ headcounts and ensure the smooth and efficient execution of banking operations while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.
Your new role
- Lead the Operations Management Department with 200+ staff, overseeing end‑to‑end Retail, Corporate, and Commercial Banking operations, including account opening, cash operations, payments processing, loan and trade services, and treasury settlements.
- Oversee operational governance for the retail branch network, including updating branch procedures, conducting regular on‑site inspections, and chairing monthly Branch Service Manager Meetings to communicate procedural updates.
- Lead bank‑wide initiatives for Process Improvement, Streamline Processing, Workflow Automation, Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Severe Weather Trading (SWT), Resolution Planning, and key regulatory submissions (e.g., CRS, Operational Continuity in Resolution), including annual reporting to the Board.
- Partner closely with the Head of Retail Banking on key business initiatives and service upgrade projects, such as severe‑weather trading and branch arrangements.
- Formulate, review, and implement operations policies, standards, and workflows in response to regulatory changes, risk requirements, and evolving business needs.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing new processes, controls, and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, risk management, and customer experience.
- Maintain strong cross‑department collaboration to strengthen bank‑wide operational effectiveness, service delivery, digitization, and workflow optimisation.
- Provide regular operational updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to the CEO, senior management and regulators.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor Degree holder with relevant working experience.
- Over 15 years of experience in Reta Banking / Wholesale Banking Operations, including more than 6 years in people management roles.
- Extensive knowledge of corporate & commercial banking operations, covering Account Services, KYC/ CDD, E-Banking, Payments and Remittances, Treasury Settlement, and Loans Services.
- Proven track record in team leadership and people management across related functions.
- Proficient in English, Putonghua, and Cantonese.
