Data Governance Manager - Data Privacy / Data Risk & Control / 50k-80k per month
I am currently helping our client seeking a candidate with Data Privacy and Data Risk Management experience to join the team in HK.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Team to define and implement governance structures, quality standards, and best practices for the Bank's data management ecosystem, enabling better utilization of data assets for strategic advantage and improved customer outcomes.
- Maintain and enhance key data governance artifacts, including the Bank's Data Catalog, Business Glossary, and Data Lineage documentation.
- Develop, monitor, and continuously improve the Data Quality Framework, including processes for issue identification, remediation, and prevention.
- Keep abreast of evolving data governance best practices, industry standards, local regulatory requirements, and compliance obligations relevant to the banking sector.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of the Bank's data strategy, ensuring alignment with and adherence to established data policies, standards, governance metrics, processes, and data architecture principles.
- Partner closely with departments across the organization to facilitate Data Governance onboarding, address data remediation queries, handle change initiatives (CI), and promote a data-aware culture.
- Uphold full compliance with all applicable regulations, guidelines, internal codes, and bank policies, performing duties with the highest level of integrity.
- Proactively identify, assess, report, mitigate, and monitor risks in daily operations in line with the Bank's risk management framework and procedures.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Data Governance, preferably within financial services, banking, or Fintech organizations.
- Proven track record of establishing, implementing, and monitoring enterprise-level data governance frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of banking business models, core operations, and the local regulatory landscape (including key compliance requirements for data handling in financial services).
- Advanced analytical mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, detect issues, and derive actionable insights from complex data environments.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and Cantonese is essential.
