Role Purpose We are seeking a visionary Director, Digital Assets and Currencies, MSS Macro to drive the evaluation and implementation of distributed ledger technology across our Global Macro business. The successful candidate will focus on shaping strategy, products, services, governance, and related deliverables.
The Director, Digital Assets and Currencies, MSS Macro, acts as the product lead and subject matter expert, playing a critical role in advancing our business and product strategy for DAC across institutional segments.
Key Responsibilities - Collaborate with colleagues across Markets and Securities Services (MSS), Global Payment Solutions (GPS), International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB), and other relevant HSBC divisions to define DAC strategy, projects, and deliverables.
- Ensure the bank remains current on DAC industry and policy developments, contributes to shaping these trends, and is recognised as a thought leader in DAC.
- Ensure DAC products comply with internal policies and external regulations, working with the second line of defence (2LoD) to shape Global Macro DAC policies and procedures.
- Lead on DAC product design, ensuring solutions are practical and deliver value.
- Define and deliver DAC products tailored to client needs.
- Post-launch, manage products in close partnership with business teams to ensure effective execution of product strategies.
- Work cross-functionally with business, technology, and digital teams to advance the DAC agenda.
- Manage relationships with third parties and clients where required, including fintechs, established vendors, and partners, to achieve strategic objectives.
- Partner with commercial teams to ensure DAC offerings are compelling and clearly communicated to clients.
- Promote HSBC's Global Macro DAC strategy, ensuring it is well understood by all relevant stakeholders.
- Provide insights on product, technology, and market trends, identifying opportunities for growth.
- Continuously research DAC products and features, monitor sector trends, and keep teams informed of relevant changes and applications.
- Develop, monitor, and report on product KPIs, assess feature impact, and share insights across the organisation.
Qualifications & Experience - Demonstrated experience in regulated Digital Assets and Currencies (DAC) environments, with a proven record of successful digital product launches and management.
- Experience leading and participating in high-performing agile teams.
- Strong knowledge of DAC and its application within banking is preferred.
- Track record of leading complex digital projects.
- Deep knowledge of risk, liquidity, and operational processes in financial markets, with experience in front-to-back solution delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to navigate regulatory environments and drive compliance in digital asset and currencies adoption.
Desirable Skills - Proven leadership skills, with the ability to drive teams towards strategic objectives.
- Effective communicator, adept at working with multi-jurisdictional, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed teams.
