A multinational insurance company is seeking an experienced and highly motivated underwriting professional to join the High Net Worth (HNW) team. This role is ideal for an individual with strong indepedent and technical expertise in life underwriting with excellent decision‑making capability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive underwriting risk assessments within delegated authority
- Work closely with international underwriting hubs to support and advance global HNW business objectives.
- Oversee the delivery of underwriting services, ensuring alignment with the organisation's underwriting philosophy and maintaining best‑in‑class service standards for HNW clients.
- Set underwriting terms, premium loadings, exclusions, or special conditions for HNW clients.
- Participate actively in underwriting‑related projects and strategic initiatives
- Monitor fraud risks and suspicious applications, evaluate medical, financial, lifestyle, and occupational risks. Ensure underwriting practices comply with HKIA.
- Collaborate with actuarial, product, and risk teams, business partners and distributors to drive business growth and refine risk frameworks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above.
- FLMI and FALU designations, or a commitment to obtaining these qualifications within five years (or equivalent).
- Over 10 years' experience in life underwriting, including a minimum of 3 years in the HNW segment. Experience working with both local and international brokers.
- Strong knowledge of life insurance products, underwriting operations, and regulatory requirements in Hong Kong, including AML, CDD and KYC.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
- Strong ability to prioritise effectively and manage negotiations with clients and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in underwriting systems, as well as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Comprehensive understanding of client needs and risk considerations across multiple distribution channels (Agency, Brokerage and Bancassurance).
