Service Line Overview We are looking for a seasoned Insurance Transformation Manager (Operations focus) to join our team in Hong Kong. Our Transformation practice in Hong Kong is regarded as one of the fastest growing divisions within KPMG China and represents a young and enthusiastic team that drives itself towards continued success.
Being a Manager within our team, you will be involved with our Clients in reviewing their current enterprise-wide insurance practices and identifying possibilities to transform and enhancing current business strategy, models and operations.
Key Responsibilities With a focus on client's operations, you will in collaboration with Clients and other consultants, define the operational effectiveness and efficiency strategies, optimal processes, technology, digital, data and AI solutions - to drive practical business and commercial outcomes.
- Manage delivery of operational excellence transformation programmes, working with senior client stakeholders within Transformation, Operations or other teams to develop and execute operational excellence strategies.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverable and timelines, ensuring alignment with client expectations and within the team.
- Assist Clients in the analysis and assessment of insurance core Life, Health or Property & Casualty operations (incl. New Business, Underwriting, Policy Servicing and Claims) to identify and discuss end-to-end process optimisation opportunities driving effectiveness, efficiency and continuous improvements under new target operating models.
- Define how operational productivity impacts overall profitability; and how to best monitor and track productivity performance, including KPI definition.
- Develop and undertake Operational business requirement analysis and design to translate business and customer needs into best practices.
- Facilitate project steering committee meetings to ensure delivery of business plans and resolve critical outstanding issues. Ensure effective decision-making, escalation, and governance.
- Manage project risks, issues, dependencies and financials.
- Act as a primary contact point for Insurance Operational Excellence-related activities and advocate for KPMG, including within Learning and Development activities.
- Support and contribute to other KPMG projects by sharing expertise or best practices. Proactively develop awareness of industry trends.
- Manage business development initiatives, including creating business proposals.
- Mentor more junior team members to develop their consulting skillset, career development through timely performance feedback and knowledge sharing.
Experience & Background - University degree with a relevant university and/or professional qualification.
- Minimum of 5-6+ years relevant experiences and capabilities in Insurance operations transformation with relevant project and delivery management. Candidates with less experience may be considered for Senior Consultant roles and those with more experience for Senior Manager roles.
- Strong strategic, operations and analytical mindset to capture opportunities and navigate complexities in a competitive insurance industry (with intellectual curiosity, structured thinking and creativity).
- Operations quality-control methodology proficiency - end-to-end process mapping, lean six-sigma, or relevant certification (PMP) is an advantage.
- Proactive self-starter with vision and passion to drive operational excellence with confidence and pragmatism. Strong people management skills with ability to build trust and influence senior stakeholder groups to achieve desired operational change outcomes.
- Ability to develop and motivate high performing team members. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin would be an advantage.
