About the team

The Financial Accounting Section is responsible for the Banks financial reporting and control, as well as regulatory and tax reporting functions—including the preparation of HKMA returns and tax computations. The team also manages bank reconciliation and accounting operation controls, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Role requirements

This 8-week internship program gives an exciting opportunity for penultimate year students who show a strong interest in the banking industry. It is an ideal way of discovering if a career in the banking industry matches your needs and aspirations. The program is structured and comprehensive:

Essential Functions

1. As an intern, you will attend an induction program where you will learn about Mizuho Bank, our culture, as well as the benefits and responsibilities of working at the Bank.
2. You will receive department-specific training designed to help you succeed and will have the opportunity to work on real responsibilities, including:
3. Participating in daily accounting operations.
4. Assisting in the preparation of accounting control reports and bank reconciliations.
5. Supporting financial data collection, analysis, and reporting.
6. Contributing to financial reporting for head office and regulatory bodies.
7. Conducting research on industry trends, market conditions, and financial regulations.
8. Maintaining and organizing financial documentation.
9. Attending departmental meetings and contributing to process improvement discussions.
10. Performing ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Work experience, education and skills

1. The individual is a Hong Kong-based penultimate undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors degree in any disciplines are welcome, with a preference in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Computer Science.
2. We are looking for an individual with excellent English and Chinese language skills. As we are headquartered in Japan, candidates with an appreciation of the Japanese language or culture are preferred.
3. Due to our global reach, candidates with previous internship experience at financial services institutions or large multi-national corporates will have an advantage.
4. The individual has good PC skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, VBA, SQL, and Python is an advantage.
5. Strong analytical and communication skills.
6. Ability to synthesize diverse ideas and think critically to develop creative and innovative solutions.
