ConnectedGroup is partnering with an established life insurance business in Hong Kong in seeking an experienced underwriter to be part of both onshore and offshore HNW Underwriting teams as Associate Director.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead underwriting support for the company's HNW life and health insurance business, with a focus on high sum assured cases
* Underwrite and provide decisions on complex, high-value cases, including securing optimal terms from reinsurers
* Establish, review, and enhance underwriting rules, practices, and guidelines in line with company policy and product specifications
* Play a key role in monitoring underwriting quality, consistency, and alignment across the business
* Partner with cross-functional teams on initiatives such as product development and underwriting-related projects
* Coach and guide underwriting teams, provide technical advice, and deliver training to sales partners and internal stakeholders
Requirements:
* University degree with professional insurance qualifications such as FLMI, ALU, or equivalent
* Minimum 10 years of experience in life and health underwriting and new business processing, including HNW products, with at least 5 years at a management level
* Strong technical expertise in underwriting assessment and risk management for high sum assured cases; product development exposure is an advantage
* Proven ability to make high-quality underwriting decisions independently; HNW underwriting authority of USD 10M or above preferred
* Strong business acumen with an understanding of commercial drivers and the competitive insurance landscape
* Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, including effective engagement with reinsurers
