Chief Marketing Officer, Hong Kong & Singapore Reports To: SVP, Southeast Asia Markets & CEO, Hong Kong
Job Summary The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will report directly to the SVP, Southeast Asia Markets & CEO, Hong Kong and will have the responsibility to lead and drive all aspects of Financial Solutions and Traditional business development to generate sustained profitable growth for RGA in Hong Kong and Singapore markets.
The CMO will lead a team of BD and Reinsurance Solutions professionals to promote RGA, source business opportunities, and provide clients with solutions with the aim of ensuring our clients view RGA as "essential for their future prosperity". The CMO will contribute to the wider leadership of the HK and SG business and participate actively and effectively as a member of the team.
Principal Duties - Lead and drive all aspects of business development for Hong Kong & Singapore markets, including sales and marketing strategies, to achieve financial targets.
- Formulate and execute business development and client strategy for the Hong Kong & Singapore markets and ensure we are continually providing innovative solutions to our clients in our core product lines and offerings including product development, reinsurance transactions, underwriting solutions, client data and digital solutions. This requires continual information exchange with our local, regional and global operations to ensure that we can customize the latest ideas for these markets.
- Lead and develop a high performing BD team and Solutions team. Ensure the teams thoroughly understand how reinsurance is used to provide value to our clients. Ensure the teams are completing high quality visits with the appropriate frequency. Ensure we respond on time with high quality proposals that show a deep understanding of client needs. Lead the treaty negotiation process and reinsurance transactions.
- Provide leadership in the marketplace and act as the 'public face' of RGA ensuring that critical client and external stakeholder relationships are solid. This includes but is not limited to insurance companies. Represent RGA in industry events and speak at client events/seminars.
- Provide thought leadership on how we can use Financial Solutions and traditional reinsurance to help our clients meet their objectives (i.e. to increase ROE's, enhance capital positions etc.). Ensure the ongoing profitability of RGA by ensuring that the solutions we deliver are sustainable. Ensure client relationships across Hong Kong and Singapore markets are developed and nurtured for the long-term delivering highly valuable treaties that meet/exceed profitability targets. Engage and coordinate where appropriate with Global and Regional account teams.
- Create business opportunities through driving new proposition and coordinate client related activities with all areas of RGA, such as Pricing, Investment Solutions, Structured Finance, as well as Actuarial, Underwriting, Administration, and Client Data and Digital Solutions. This includes working with other areas of RGA Hong Kong and Singapore to ensure appropriate meetings are scheduled with counterparts throughout the industry.
- Work in close coordination with Regional Pricing, Investment Solutions and Structured Finance teams to maximize business opportunities and relationship enhancement in the interest of RGA. Monitor/Drive market developments and identify business opportunities for RGA, including those relating to digital, data or disruption advancements. Liaise internally across teams to ensure company's
- Ensure all Hong Kong & Singapore relevant resources and staff understand how they contribute to the marketing effort. Ensure we have processes to receive and properly store the information we need to understand the market. Ensure we have processes in place to understand the needs of our clients and are appropriately responding to those needs.
- Coordinate marketing activities to maintain a robust and competitive offering, while ensuring a superior experience for our clients across Hong Kong and Singapore markets.
- Ensure that RGA both in Hong Kong and Singapore is continually raising our profile through industry seminars, print and digital media articles, advertising, representation on key industry bodies.
- Provide strong management and leadership for the BD team and related functions. Set clear goals and expectations. Ensure regular reviews occur. Training opportunities are identified.
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science or a related field preferred.
- 15+ Years life insurance or reinsurance experience and a minimum of 5 years of marketing experience required.
- Experience pricing or developing products with a reinsurer or a direct company preferred.
- Proven track record of success in marketing all types of life reinsurance required.
- Proven leadership skills to lead high performing teams required.
- Proven capacity to build and manage effective internal and external stakeholder relationships required.
- Proven capacity to execute, deliver business unit objectives and drive mandated business outcomes required.
- Strong critical and creative thinking, with ability to develop business insights and hypotheses required.
- Advanced analytic and project management skills with strong ability to partnering in a collaborative manner. Strong ability to develop clear, concise findings and recommendations, and prepare and deliver well-designed presentation required.
- Capacity and willingness to act as a role model for corporate beliefs and values required.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received. Advanced persuasion required.
- Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Proactive in approach and alert to new opportunities required.
- Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions required.
- Fluency in English required.
- Thorough understanding of capital markets and available capital alternatives preferred.
- Fellowship through either the Society of Actuaries or similar preferred.
