VP, Business Development

Reporting to: Chief Marketing Officer, Hong Kong & Singapore

Role Summary

The VP, Business Development, is responsible for leading the Financial Solutions (FS) business across Hong Kong and Singapore, driving strategic growth through the origination, structuring, and execution of high-value transactions, including block deals, capital-motivated solutions, and other bespoke FS opportunities.

This role will set the strategic direction for the FS portfolio, cultivate senior-level client relationships, and ensure the delivery of commercially robust, executable solutions aligned with RGA's risk, capital, and governance frameworks. You will lead a team of FS professionals, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and elevate RGA's market leadership and presence in the Financial Solutions segment.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Business Growth - Lead, develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the Financial Solutions business across Hong Kong and Singapore. Drive the identification, prioritization, and origination of FS opportunities, including block transactions and capital-efficient structures. Set deal strategy, secure exclusivities, and maximize transaction success and profitability. Ensure FS growth aligns with broader corporate objectives and regional market priorities.

  • FS Deal Origination, Structuring & Execution - Lead end-to-end structuring and execution of FS transactions, partnering with Pricing, Business Development, Solutions, Risk, Finance, Legal, and other corporate teams. Oversee the development of commercially viable, risk-appropriate solutions grounded in strong financial and actuarial fundamentals. Communicate transaction concepts effectively to clients, internal stakeholders, and leadership teams. Lead negotiations and ensure successful closure of complex FS transactions.

  • Senior Client Engagement & Relationship Management - Build, deepen, and maintain senior-level relationships with insurers, banks, financial institutions, and strategic partners. Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic insights and thought leadership on FS opportunities and industry trends. Strengthen client confidence in RGA's FS expertise and execution capabilities.

  • Market Insights & Thought Leadership - Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging innovations affecting the FS landscape. Identify and translate market shifts into new product ideas, value propositions, and growth opportunities. Represent RGA at industry events, conferences, and thought leadership forums to enhance brand visibility and strengthen market positioning.

  • Team Leadership & Talent Development - Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing FS team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and commercial excellence. Build a strong bench of FS talent to support long-term business growth.

  • Governance, Risk & Financial Discipline - Ensure all FS transactions meet internal governance requirements and risk, capital, and pricing frameworks. Partner with Risk, Finance, and Legal to maintain robust controls, documentation, and regulatory compliance. Safeguard long-term portfolio profitability and sustainable value creation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science or a related field.
  • 15+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance and/or reinsurance and/or banking
  • A clear strategic thinker capable of identifying business opportunities and the support necessary to achieve successful completion required
  • Expert ability to envision goals, develop strategies, and motivate internal teams and clients to achieve those goals required
  • Expert skills in managing multiple tasks, projects simultaneously in order to meet tight deadlines, including the abilities to delegate key areas of responsibility and balance priorities and deliverables required
  • Expertise in translating business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions required
  • Advanced knowledge of broad business and finance-related practices required
  • Demonstrated ability and highly-advanced skills in sales, marketing, and building long-term relationships with clients. Demonstrated ability to generate sales revenue and net income required
  • Expert oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all associates and management at all levels and by external contacts. Highly advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal partners and external customers. Highly advanced presentation skills required
  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly advanced ability to investigate, analyze, and solve complex problems/issues. Expert ability to analyze and improve business processes required
  • Expert ability to understand short- and long-term implications to RGA of various transaction structures required
  • CPA or FSA designation Preferred
