Job Summary Reporting to the Modeling team head, this role leads a small modeling sub-team covering deterministic model and/or ALS model quarterly rollout. The position oversees the development and validation of FWD Prophet models, supports various Actuarial initiatives/projects, providing insights from modeling perspective as well as offering training and mentoring the junior staff.
The Job As the modeling sub-team lead:
- Lead, coach and manage the team's performance, development and morale to ensure team members achieve their goals according to the expected performance standards
- Manage the resources and ensure adequate resource allocation in work arrangement
- Support the hiring of good talent
- Oversee the development and validation of FWD HK Prophet model changes and ensure quality and on-time delivery of work
- Review result reasonableness of and internal consistency across various reporting bases
- Manage the expectations of key stakeholders by developing a communication process during the roll-out of the model changes
- Negotiate timelines, scope and priorities of incoming requests
- Set priorities for the team and oversee all deliverables including planning and managing the resources for delivering the Actuarial initiatives/projects
The Person - 10-12 years of insurance experience in actuarial functions
- Fellowship or nearly fellowship member of an internationally recognized actuarial professional body
- Candidates with less experience may be considered as Senior Manager
- Strong understanding of various reporting bases (e.g. HKRBC, EC, EV, and IFRS)
- Hands on knowledge of Prophet modeling, including Prophet ALS is a must
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Strong team leadership and management skills
- Strong facilitation, negotiation and problem resolution skills
- Strong strategic thinking ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in English speaking and written skills
